We propose an excursion: Predeal to Brasov- Poiana- Brasov- Rasnov,-Bran and back to Predeal(via Paraul Rece) http://www.comune.ro/?/judet/ijud9/

Brasov - a medieval city is the capital of Brasov County. It is located in the central part of the country, about 25km north of Predeal. It is surrounded by the Southern Carpathians and is part of the Transylvania region. The city is notable for being the birthplace of the national anthem of Romania and for hosting the Golden Stag International Music Festival.

Poiana Brasov is the most popular Romanian ski resort and an important tourist center. It is located at about 1,200 m above sea level near the city of Brasov and it is easily accessible by road, the 12 km route between Brasov and Poiana Brasov. It is surrounded by four mountains: the already mentioned Postavaru (1,799 m), Piatra Craiului (2,238 m), Bucegi (2,505 m) and Piatra Mare (1,848 m). Poiana Brasov is host to a number of hotels and restaurants, the majority of which cater for foreign tourists. Two of the better known restaurants are Sura Dacilor (The Dacians' Barn) and Coliba Haiducilor (The Outlaws' Shack). There is also one nightclub, Capra Neagra (The Chamois).

From here, via a direct road, down towards the town Rasnov well known by Rasnov Fortress which is located on a rocky hilltop in the Carpathian mountains, 200m above the town of Rasnov. It is 15 km southwest of Brasov and also about 15 km from Bran Castle. The fortress is on the Bran Pass, a trade route connecting Wallachia with Transylvania. The view from the top of the castle hill is spectacular.

Bran is a commune in Brasov County. It lies 30 km from the city of Brasov. Medieval Bran Castle, which was once besieged by Wallachian voivod Vlad III, is a popular tourist destination as it is purported setting for Count Dracula, in Bram Stoker's Dracula". The castle is now a museum open to tourists, displaying art and furniture collected by Queen Marie.
Tourists can see the interior individually or by a guided tour. At the bottom of the hill is a small open air museum park exhibiting traditional Romanian peasant structures (cottages, barns, etc.) from across the country.

The excursion will end with workshop dinner.
The cost of the excursion will be communicated later

General: Other circular will be mailed to the participants, a few weeks before the Workshop. It will contain more detailed information about the FCal workshop programme, transportation from the Otopeni airport to/from Predeal, social events, and so on
