Abstract: The goal of the project is the creation within the Horia Hulubei National Institute for Physics and Nuclear Engineering (IFIN-HH) of a regional centre of excellence for reseach and disemination in nuclear physics and related areas which fits the international standards for research infrastructure, professional level of the activities and quality of human resources. It will be a reseach unit complementar to the existing reseach institutes and universities, where both Romanian and researchers from other european centres will fiind excellent conditions of work. In the meantime, an Office for Consulting, Training and Disemination and will be developed within the Centre which will gather information in the nuclear domain, particularly for Romania, and where training activities and scientific meetings will be held. The specific goals of the proposal are:
-development of a competitive reseach infrastructure for performing advanced reseaches in nuclear physics, astroparticle physics, environmental protection, high energy physics and computing applications.
– commissioning of a specific infrastructure for communication/promotion/disemination of science
- development of an infrastructure for the organization of scientific meetings, with international participation including the dialog science-society
- raise of educational standards of the students, young researchers and employees working in the nuclear field and related areas.
To reach these objectives one takes advantage of the high level expertise existing in IFIN-HH.
Activities performed within the project include:
i) reconstruction, modernization and fitting aut of two existing buildings belonging to IFIN-HH in order to create appropiate rooms and offices for the Centre
ii) acquisition of furniture and equipments for the laboratories of the Centre, including computing equipments and network devices
iii) aquisition of media equipments for virtual reality laboratory (photo and video professional cameras, specific software, etc.)
