Abstract: The project develops an exploratory experimental program aiming to open a new research direction for the production and study of neutron-rich heavy (A=160-250) isotopes by using multiple nucleon transfer reactions (MNT) inside the cryogenic stopping cell (CSC) of the FRS Ion Catcher (FRS-IC) facility at GSI. The main objective consists in the analysis of data from the experiment G-22-00117 "In-cell multi-nucleon transfer reactions at the FRS Ion Catcher - a new perspective towards the studies of neutron-rich broadband heavy isotopes with stable and unstable beams", by P. Constantin et al., carried out during the period 24-27 May 2024 at GSI. Secondary objectives consist of analyzing data taken with the 252Cf radioactive source at the same facility, as well as completing two technological projects: the gas recirculation and purification system, called Helium Recovery Unit (HRU), and the Micro-Channel Plate (MCP) ion detection system. The HRU system will allow the CSC to operate for extended periods at optimal gas purity, temperature, and density parameters. The MCP system will improve the measurement rate and resolution of the FRS-IC mass spectrometer.

Objectives:
- data analysis of experiment G-22-00117 at the FRS Ion Catcher facility (GSI, Germany);
- feasibility demonstration of radioactive ion beam generation using MNT reactions inside a gas cell;
- data analysis of mass spectra of ions generated by a 252Cf radioactive source placed inside the CSC gas cell;
- the Helium Recovery Unit system of gas recirculation and purification;
- the Micro-Channel Plate system of ion detection.
