Acronym: SPACERAD Contracting Authority: UEFISCDI Number / Date of the contract: 53 PED / 2025-02-01 PN-IV-P7-7.1-PED-2024-2029 Project Manager: Ion Burducea Partners: MAZAROM IMPEX SRL Starting date / finishing date: 2025-02-01 / 2026-07-31 Project value: 947000 RON Abstract: The project aims to design, develop and calibrate a universal experimental platform for Radiation Hardness Assurance Testing of Microelectronic Devices and Integrated Circuits. The platform will be integrated at the 3 MV TandetronTM multipurpose facility of Horia Hulubei National Institute for Research & Development in Physics and Nuclear Engineering (IFIN-HH). After installation, the system will be commissioned by monitoring in real time the response of CARD-SAT Nano-satellite components to different extreme conditions (i.e., high dose and flux). Based on the real time remote data collections, the project aims to propose a universal method for Radiation Hardness Assurance Testing of Microelectronic Devices and Integrated Circuits, which can be widely used in research and industry.
Objectives: Development and calibration of an experimental platform for radiation resistance testing. Testing and monitoring of microelectronic devices and integrated circuits using a thermal imaging camera. Characterization before and after irradiation using computed tomography. Testing and validation of the ion beam irradiation configuration for the electronic components of the CARD-SAT nano-satellites.
