  • Laboratorul GamaSpec functioneaza in conformitate cu Notificarea Comisiei Nationale pentru Controlul Activitatilor Nucleare (CNCAN) nr. Ll 03/2013, in acord cu standardele de calitate SR EN ISO 9000 si SR EN ISO/CEI 17025.

    Domeniu de activitate

    • Incercari pentru analiza radioactivitatii in probe de mediu, materiale si probe provenite de la dezafectarea reactorului VVR-S, prin spectrometrie gama de fond scazut.
    • Incercari pentru analiza concentratiilor elementale in probe de mediu si materiale prin metoda de analiza prin activare cu neutroni (iradierea cu neutroni se realizeaza la reactorul nuclear TRIGA al RATEN-ICN Pitesti).

    Aparatura utilizata

    Sistem spectrometric gama de inalta rezolutie, cu detector tip HPGe Ortec (eficacitate relativa de detectie de 30%, rezolutie energetica de 2,3 keV la energia de 1332 keV a 60Co).
    Pentru a reduce fondul natural din spectrul gama al probei, detectorul este plasat intr-un ecran de Pb (10 cm grosime) captusit cu folii de Sn (1 mm) si Cu (1,5 mm).
    Rata de numarare a impulsurilor electrice in spectrul fondului natural (domeniu de energie 20 - 2800 keV, timp de masura 24 h) este de 1,2-1,7 impulsuri/secunda.

    Performante analitice

    1. Radionuclizi investigati in probe de mediu prin spectrometrie gama
    • Radionuclizi artificiali: 137Cs, 60Co, 241Am, etc.
    • Radionuclizi naturali: produsi de dezintegrare din seriile radioactive 238U-226Ra si 232Th; 235U; 40K; 7Be.
    Masa proba: ~ 10 - 200 g (probe solide);
    Volum proba: 100 ml - 1 l (probe lichide).

    2. Elemente investigate in probe de mediu prin metoda de analiza prin activare cu neutroni instrumentala (fara prelucari chimice ale probelor): Ag, As, Au, Ba, Br, Ca, Cd, Ce, Co, Cr, Cs, Eu, Fe, Hf, Hg, K, La, Lu, Mo, Na, Nd, Ni, Rb, Sb, Sc, Se, Sm, Sr, Tb, Th, U, W, Yb, Zn.
    Masa proba: ~ 10 - 150 mg (probe solide).
    Nota: analiza prin activare cu neutroni se poate efectua corelat cu perioadele de functionare ale reactorului nuclear TRIGA al ICN Pitesti.

    Activitate minima detectabila (AMD) in masurarea radioactivitatii

    0,090 Bq137Cs, in apa de volum 1 l (geometrie Marinelli);
    0,072 Bq 137Cs, in apa de volum 150 cm3 (geometrie cilindrica tip Sarpagan).

    Limite de detectie in analiza prin activare cu neutroni:

    0,1 μg/kg (0,1 ppb) - 10 g/kg (1 %), in functie de tipul elementului si matricea probei.

    Descrierea metodei

    Spectrometria gama este o tehnica nucleara utilizata pentru determinarea radionuclizilor emitatori de radiatii gama, prezenti in diferite tipuri de probe.
    Etape analitice:
    • identificarea radionuclizilor (analiza calitativa);
    • determinarea activitatii/concentratiei de activitate a radionuclizilor identificati, exprimata in Bq, respectiv Bq/kg sau Bq/l (analiza cantitativa).

    Analiza radioactivitatii naturale in probe de mediu prin spectrometrie gama de fond scazut

    Spectrul gama al fondului natural din laborator se datoreaza in principal radionuclizilor din seriile radioactive uraniu-radiu (238U-226Ra) si toriu (232Th), precum si radionuclidului 40K.
    Variatiile temporale aleatorii ale radonului in spectrul fondului natural din laborator impun masurarea alternativa a probei si a fondului, in special in cazul probelor cu nivel scazut al radioactivitatii naturale. Durata de masura, pentru probe si fondul natural, este de aprox. 24 ore.
    Pentru analiza 226Ra, probele se inchid etans si se masoara dupa 3-4 saptamani, pentru a se realiza echilibrul radioactiv intre 226Ra si descendentul sau gazos 222Rn (radon). Prin spectrometrie gama se masoara radionuclizii 214Pb si 214Bi, descendenti ai radonului.
    Concentratiile elementelor U, Th si K in probe se pot determina prin masurarea radioactivitatii 238U, 232Th si 40K.

    Analiza prin activare cu neutroni

    Analiza prin activare cu neutroni (NAA) este o tehnica analitica multielementala, bazata pe producerea in proba, prin reactii nucleare de activare cu neutroni a unor radionuclizi emitatori de radiatii gama. Activitatea radionuclizilor produsi este direct proportionala cu numarul de nuclee pe care a avut loc reactia, asadar cu masa/concentratia elementelor activate in proba. Analiza prin activare cu neutroni instrumentala (INAA) se realizeaza fara prelucari chimice ale probelor inainte sau dupa iradiere (metoda nedistructiva). Laboratorul GamaSpec poate determina prin metoda INAA elemente ce produc prin activare cu neutroni radionuclizi cu T 1/2 >= 12 h, prin iradiere cu neutroni la reactorul TRIGA al RATEN-ICN Pitesti.

    Controlul calitatii se realizeaza prin:

    • utilizarea de materiale de referinta certificate;
    • participarea periodica la teste de capabilitate si exercitii de intercomparare, organizate la nivel international de Agentia Internationala pentru Energie Atomica (IAEA) Viena, IAEA-MEL Monaco, Institutul de Chimie si Tehnologie Nucleara (INCT), Varsovia, Polonia;
    • participarea la exercitii de comparare interlaboratoare organizate in IFIN-HH.
