Abstract: THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROJECT IS TO OBTAIN N-N CORRELATION DATA OF MAJOR INTEREST IN TWO PRESENT DAY ISSUES OF NUCLEAR PHYSICS: FUNDAMENTAL ASPECTS IN NUCLEAR FISSION AND NEW ASPECTS COMING INTO SIGHT IN THE FRONTIER DOMAIN OF RADIOACTIVE BEAMS PHYSICS, WHERE WE HAVE ACQUIRED A PRIORITY IN THE INVESTIGATION OF CORRELATIONS OF PRE-EMITTED NEUTRONS FROM HALO NUCLEI.THIS GOAL WILL BE REACHED BY IMPLEMENTING, FOR THE FIRST TIME IN OUR COUNTRY, A VME SYSTEM FOR NEUTRON MEASUREMENTS AT THE IFIN-HH TANDEM ACCELERATOR, WITHIN A NEW APPROACH, USING A NEUTRON DETECTOR ARRAY THAT WAS BUILT BY US IN IFIN-HH IN COLLABORATION WITH RIKEN-JAPAN, IN ORDER TO TACKLE: - INVESTIGATION OF THE ORIGIN OF THE SCISSION PROMPT NEUTRON EMISSION IN THE FISSION PROCESS, NAMELY IF THEY ARE EMITTED FROM THE NECK BETWEEN THE FISSION FRAGMENTS IN THE SEPARATION MOMENT, IN THE FINAL STAGE OF THE FISSION PROCESS. A DIRECT ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION WILL BE A NEUTRON-NEUTRON CORRELATION MEASUREMENT USING FOR THE FIRST TIME IN FISSION PROCESS, A NEUTRON DETECTOR ARRAY. - NEUTRON INVESTIGATION IN THE FRONTIER FIELD OF RADIOACTIVE BEAMS. ANOTHER ISSUE OF INTEREST IN THE FIELD OF RADIOACTIVE BEAMS PHYSICS SIGNALIZED FOR THE FIRST TIME BY OUR GROUP CONCERNS THE 4 NEUTRON CORRELATION. THE HYPOTHESIS OF A STABLE CLUSTER HAS NOT BEEN CONFIRMED EITHER THEORETICALLY OR EXPERIMENTALLY. THERE ARE SOME SIGNALS ON THE POSSIBILITY OF A 4-NEUTRON RESONANT STATE EXISTENCE. THIS INVESTIGATION WILL BE UNDERTAKEN WITH AN INTERNATIONAL PARTICIPATION, USING OUR NEUTRON DETECTOR ARRAY, ON THE BASIS OF A SIGNED AGREEMENT WITH THE INSTITUTE FOR NUCLEAR RESEARCH IN DUBNA.FULFILLING THESE IDEAS, BY USING THE NEUTRON DETECTOR ARRAY, WILL LEAD TO THE POSSIBILITY OF OBTAINING MORE EFFICIENTLY BASIC NEUTRON NUCLEAR DATA.
